Humble colour pencils.
From childhood, they intrigued me with their simplicity — their magical interplay on paper as differing colours and shades were mixed and blended together.
Photorealism and visual juxtapositions have always fascinated me.
Using this medium, I produce naturalistic drawings of everyday recognisable objects but with an added twist to their original form or characteristics leaving the viewer to complete the visual conundrum.
I work on hot or cold-pressed watercolour paper using wax and oil-based colour pencils. I patiently build multiple layers to achieve depth, richness and detail, resulting in art that upon first sight appears photographic.
